16 of the 50 biggest US retailers still match competitors' prices. Walmart and Target don't anymore: both now match only their own prices. Here's every store's rule.
Stores that match competitors' prices (16)
Bring proof of a lower price on the identical item and these retailers will match it, within their rules.
- Academy Sports + Outdoors: Matches in-stock competitor prices; clearance and timed events excluded.
- AutoZone: Matches local auto-parts stores only, not websites.
- BJ's Wholesale Club: TVs only, requested the day of purchase.
- Bass Pro Shops & Cabela's: Matches competitors within 100 miles and qualifying websites.
- Best Buy: Matches qualified competitors on identical new items, plus its own price drops during the return window.
- Dell: Matches qualifying retailer sites within 30 days (PCs capped at 10%), plus its own price drops.
- Dick's Sporting Goods: Best Price Guarantee matches local and online retailers, including Amazon; 14-day price adjustment.
- Harbor Freight: Lowest Price Guarantee; price adjustments reported within 30 days.
- Hobby Lobby: Matches identical items in Michaels or Joann ads, in store only.
- Lowe's: Matches identical in-stock items from qualifying competitors. Amazon and warehouse clubs excluded.
- Nordstrom: Price adjustment against Nordstrom and listed competitors within 14 days.
- O'Reilly Auto Parts: Low Price Guarantee matches local in-store competitors, not online sellers.
- PetSmart: Price Match Promise on identical in-stock items from select competitors.
- Staples: Matches retailers including Amazon; refunds the difference within 14 days.
- The Home Depot: Matches identical in-stock items from local and online competitors.
- Tractor Supply: Matches competitor in-store and online prices, including within 30 days after purchase.
Stores that only match their own prices (9)
These retailers refund the difference if their own price drops after you buy, but won't match other stores.
- Costco: Refunds the difference if Costco's own price drops within 30 days.
- Gap, Old Navy, Banana Republic: One-time adjustment if its own price drops within 14 days.
- Kohl's: Matches Kohls.com prices. Competitor matching is limited.
- Macy's: Matches its own lower price within 10 days of the order.
- Meijer: Refunds the difference if its weekly-ad price drops within about 10 days. No competitor matching.
- Menards: Honors its own sale price within 14 days via price-adjustment rebate.
- Target: Matches Target.com, store and Circle deal prices within 14 days. Competitor matching ended July 2025.
- Walgreens: Stores may match Walgreens.com price. No competitor matching.
- Walmart: Stores match Walmart.com price. No competitor matching.

No competitor matching and no price adjustments. If the price drops, your only option is usually to return and rebuy within the return window.
